New Spring Style Trends for 2012

Spring is in full effect and so are the bright colors of this season’s fashion. Yes, neon, pastels and all things that are color are making a comeback. This applies to everything including nail polish, shoes, purses, makeup and even eyelashes.

While skinny jeans are definitely in attendance for fall trends, it would also seem that dresses are staking their place on this springs movement.  With the song of bright colors being sung there has also come a statement of soft femininity.  Long dresses and one-piece halter jumpsuits only further indicate that we are channeling our inner woman.  From floral dresses to fashionable hats this spring puts romanticism in the air.

For those of you that want to play it safe, it’s always easier to mix your bright colors with a neutral color.  However, since we are going bold, you want to throw your black items to the wind and mix those bright colors with white.  You can always mix them with navy as well depending on the color.  Just as long as you aren’t going for the demur looks of brown and black.  You can save them for the fall.

Accessories are important as well.  If you have a simple monotone outfit, adding a chunky bright necklace could be just the statement you are looking for to give it that pop.  With all of the bright colors don’t hesitate to grab a neutral colored shoe.  Get the basic for your wardrobe and keep your eye out for the following trends.

Trends to Look for:

Lace

Lace is back and this isn’t Madonna’s Borderline lace.  It’s being used as never before. This season it’s covering handbags, shoes, and more.

Whimsical Patterns

There is a lot of fun interesting prints out this season.  Lots of tribal patterns out from the Coachella inspired headdresses to Southwestern looks.  You will see cherries, deer, fruit, and feathers.  You will even find kitty cats on blouses and dresses.  In addition there will just be lots of fun prints with no particular pattern.  Just have fun with it and find the print that expresses you best.

Stripes

Stripes seem to hold a place in fashion year after year. Yet this year they are part of the bright color effect.  You will see them in all shapes from Chevron stripes to plain striped t-shirts mixed with black and red.  Keep in mind the stripes you choose should go according to your body type.  They can be unforgiving if worn wrong.

High-Waist Shorts

The high-waist shorts of Marilyn Monroe’s famous beach photos are back. Coming out of fall where many wore shorts with tights, now it is your opportunity to ditch the tights and show off those great legs.  You can also keep the tights and instead of black add neon pink.  If they don’t have the adorable sailor buttons don’t be afraid to add a belt and a pair of hoop earrings.

Make Mine Nautical

Preppy is so back.  From the Hampton inspired espadrille to nautical navy Cape Cod is only a mental trip away.  The nautical look is classic and this year there will be a touch of the South Seas with sailor hats, and the usual nautical strips.  Don’t be afraid to go out and grab yourself a cute pair of high waist white shorts to compliment a striped blue/white top.  Mix them with an espadrille and you are in business.
